If there’s one thing “the world” is good at doing it’s taking your focus off the true meaning of a holiday. For Christmas it’s all about Santa, the tree, presents, and more presents. For Easter it’s all about bunnies and eggs and chocolate. While those leanings aren’t inherently bad they do have obvious failures–they fail to represent the true meaning of the holiday.
It’s kinda like when it’s your birthday but Grandma sends all your siblings gifts too. It kinda takes away from your special day…
I guess that’s why I am soo inspired by Meaning for Beauty~ we can have a beautiful holiday that is transformed by decorations but keeps the purpose of the holiday in check.
Now, I admit my Easter table this year was not finished when I posted it because sometimes blogs have to follow timelines and well I am off my timeline this week and wasn’t as prepared as I should have been (sigh. regret). But if you’ve been around long enough you know that’s sort of the premise of this blog–faith decorating–and I know you won’t hold it against me…right??
My Easter table aside, I truly believe a well-decorated home that seeks to honor Christ as center of it will have elements of Him everywhere–really, they are inseparable and yet pair well with modern decor!! And praise be to God, the market for Christ-centered décor is becoming more and more mainstream (or at least those are the circles I run in so it would seem to me that it has). Tell me it’s true!!!
In my search for a Christ-centered Easter, I came across some of the mostly lovely ideas and products to add to our homes. I hope you enjoy them too and have a wonderful Easter celebration next week!! See these sources as you scroll along down inspiration alley!!
Meaningful products to add to your home—Ever Thine Home
These four pieces are such a beautiful representation of The Resurrection–Easter!! The names of Christ situated on the table, I especially love, and would make for a lovely conversation piece especially with extended family who may be coming over for the holiday. The lambs also really help children understand that bunnies are cute but lambs are special and have meaning: Christ was our Shepherd, He was The Paschal Lamb
Easter table centerpiece—Common Ground
While this vignette was a fall theme it would, to me, have been better served as a center-piece for an Easter table. Aren’t the lambs just lovely??
He is Risen Indeed DIY gift bags—AKADesign
I am absolutely in love with this idea: little gift bags for your guests when they sit at the Easter table. What? How genius!! Can you imagine the awe and wonder of opening the little bag to see what’s inside? It could be a quote, chocolate, a cross, or saints medal. The options and conversations are endless but mostly its about reflecting on the joy of The Resurrection with your guests and family!!
The Jesus Tree for Easter—The Small Seed
Another great center-piece that you could do with your children that is reminiscent of the Jesse Tree from Christmas. You will be building memories and meaning with your children while creating a centerpiece to swoon over!!
Natural-dyed Jesus Easter eggs—Jeanne Winters
One tradition we love to do as a family is get our Easter basket blessed on Holy Saturday. If you’ve never done this, check the bulletin for your parish and see if they do it.
Here’s how it works: either the deacon or priest will invite families to lay their Easter baskets (filled with items you will eat on Easter–not the kid kind) on the steps of the altar. He will then talk about the tradition or about the importance of Easter (20 mins or so) and then he will bless the baskets. The main thing to keep in mind is that you must consume all that is blessed so don’t over do it!!! And beware of envy, there are some beautiful baskets with linens surrounded by some yummy homemade dishes!! Just saying!!
Items you might want to include in your basket are: these Jesus eggs, a bottle of champagne, lamb butter, bread, dessert!! Have fun with it!!
Now, don’t you want to be able to amp up your Easter décor after seeing all this inspiration?? You’re in luck, I am giving away one of my custom-designed Easter pillows (your choice) for today’s Giveaway as we conclude Easter Design and Decorating week with my friend, Mary, from Sometimes Martha, Always Mary.
